July – The month of Smartphones

Five BIG smartphone manufactures launched/announced their flagship devices in July 2015 in India – OnePlus,  Motorola, Micromax and Xiaomi

OnePlus – The Chinese smartphones manufactures launched their much awaited #OnePlus 2 with a VR launch. This was first of its kind, where they offered their fans to watch the Product Launch with OnePlus VR Cardboard, a device based on Google Cardboard Technology. For this, they rolled out an App – OnePlus 2 Launch, which showed the Co-Founder Carl Pei walking accross the OnePlus HQ and revealing the OnePlus 2 device. They call it the 2016 Flagship Device. The OnePlus 2 is priced at INR 22,999 ( 16GB) and INR 24,999 (64GB), and will be available on invite-only basis from August 11, 2015 onward.

Motorola – The ex-Google company Motorola rolled out the 3rd Generation of Moto G in India. The Moto G (3rd Gen) will come in two colours White & Grey. It is nicely priced at INR 11,999 for 8GB and INR 12,999 for 16GB. The company has tied up with the Indian eCom giant Flipkart.com for the sale of this device. They also managed to lag along some decent offers with the Moto G. This device has a better camera, bigger battery life and is water resistant. In all, a decent buy under 15K.

Xiaomi – This Chinese company was celebrating its 1st Anniversary sale in India. They launched some interesting products in July 2015 – mouse pad, headphones and Mi4i along with some combo offers like Free headphones with Mi Pad, discounts on accessories etc. Xiaomi launched Mi4 on 28th July, which in a short spam went out of stock, clearly showing the love for Mi products in India. Their one more device, Mi Band, the fitness band wen out of stock in few mins, this band is priced nicely at INR 999/- and is a good buy when compared with other fitness bands like FitBit etc, which are almost 5 times the price.

Micromax – With all the actions happening in the smartphone market, how can the top Indian manufacturer be left behind. Micromax launched  Canvas Xpress 2, a budget phone for INR 5,999. This device is powered with 13MP camera and 2GB RAM, a decent configuration for a budget device. Canvas Xpress 2 is available for sale on flipkart.com

There were other device launches as well, iBall came out with their dSLR smartphone, which boosts of a camera which is as good as a dSLR. Cyanogen powered Yu also launched  Yu Yureka Plus on Amazon in the last week of July. This launch was much in news as some users faced technical issues and were not able to buy this device. Xolo, Lava and Huawei were few other who launched their devices in July 2015.
