In the developed countries like USA, UK etc, consumers who wanted tablets, have already bought them and consumers who had plans to buy a tablet are now not convinced with their high costs.
The ray of light that came from the East, with huge markets like China & India has also diminished. The East, which was supposed to be the major revenue generating market, has also not lived up to its potential, as local OEM’s are now manufacturing low-cost phablets (device bigger than a usual smartphone having calling functionality), thereby surpassing tablet demands. According to a report by IDC, there has been a growth of 88% per quarter, sequentially, through 2012 and the first half of 2013 in Phablet shipments across Asis-Pacific.
The technology enthusiasts or the business users, do not seem be impressed with tablets. Majorly, they still believe the tablets needs to evolve and do not see tablets as powerful productivity tools that can replace PC or Laptops.
