The face of MI devices Hugo Barra has quit Xiaomi as Vice President to lead virtual reality efforts at Facebook. Barra served Xiaomi for 3.5 years where to took the Chinese company out to emerging markets like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and lastly to India.
Hugo had tweeted on January 23, 2017 about his decision of quitting Xiaomi to follow his dreams in the Silicon Valley.

Above tweet by Barra generated a lot of curiosity in twitterati, with some guessing he was going back to Google to work on Android OS.
On the other side, Mark Zukerberg, CEO Facebook says he is very excited to have Hugo Barra on Facebook and hopes his experiences in Xiaomi and Google will push Facebook’s VR efforts to greater heights.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the appointment in his post.
“I’m excited that Hugo Barra is joining Facebook to lead all of our virtual reality efforts, including our Oculus team. Hugo’s in China right now, so here we are together in VR. It seems fitting,” he wrote.
“I’ve known Hugo for a long time, starting when he helped develop the Android operating system, to the last few years he’s worked at Xiaomi in Beijing bringing innovative devices to millions of people,” he added.
